La Paz, BCS – The Baja California Sur State Congress has officially declared 2025 the "Year of the Indigenous and Afro-Mexican Woman ," in recognition of the importance of highlighting and valuing the contributions of these communities to the state's development.


The initiative, proposed by Representative Martín Escogido Flores , seeks to promote inclusive public policies and guarantee respect for the rights of Indigenous and Afro-Mexican women, who have historically faced multiple forms of discrimination and exclusion.


Throughout this year, various cultural, educational, and social activities will be held to promote knowledge and appreciation of the state's indigenous and Afro-Mexican cultures. In addition, economic and social support programs will be promoted for these communities, with the goal of improving their living conditions and strengthening their participation in public life.


Civil organizations and community leaders have expressed their support for this declaration, considering it a significant step toward building a more equitable society that respects cultural diversity.


This initiative is expected to serve as a catalyst for the development of more inclusive policies and contribute to eradicating the inequalities that persist in the state.
