Los Cabos / La Paz, BCS – Baja California Sur security authorities reported an 18% decrease in crime in tourist areas during the Easter holiday period, compared to the same period in 2024.
The "Safe Vacations 2025" operation, coordinated between municipal corporations, the National Guard and the Navy , managed to reduce robberies of pedestrians, assaults on businesses and disturbances of public order in key areas such as the Malecón in La Paz , beaches in Los Cabos and downtown areas of Loreto and Todos Santos .
According to the state Public Security Secretariat , more than 1,200 officers were deployed during the busiest days , with constant patrols and checkpoints at highway access points and terminals.
"This result is the result of inter-institutional coordination and public adherence to the recommendations issued. We are committed to maintaining this downward trend throughout the year ," said Public Security Secretary José Alfredo González.
Most of the incidents attended were related to excessive noise, minor fights, and public alcohol abuse. Sixty people were also reported arrested for administrative offenses , with no high-impact incidents reported.
Tourism service providers celebrated the decrease in incidents and highlighted a safe environment as a key value for maintaining the destination's competitiveness.
The challenge, experts warn, will be to maintain this surveillance outside of holiday periods.
