The sea turtle nest was moved to the protective pen at Playa Diamante, where it will be monitored until the hatchlings hatch.

La Paz, Baja California Sur (BCS). A sea turtle nest was rescued on a beach in Cabo San Lucas and transferred to the protection pen at Playa Diamante, where it will be monitored and cared for until it hatches.

The Sea Turtle Protection Coordination will continue its surveillance patrols in the municipality of Los Cabos to protect the nests of these endangered species. Citizens are asked to report any turtle sightings or nests to 911, which is available 24/7 to respond promptly.

This effort is part of the region's sea turtle nesting season, which has seen significant events, such as the recovery of more than 200 nests in a single day in September 2024.

Protecting nests in specialized pens is essential to ensuring the survival of hatchlings, who face multiple threats from birth. Collaboration between authorities, organizations, and the community is key to preserving these species and their habitat.
